Rehabilitation & Exercise Prescription
These programs are designed for; sports injury rehabilitation (back, ankle, knee, head injury), work/occupational injury rehabilitation (RSI, overuse, back injury), postural rehabilitation, trauma rehabilitation including stroke rehabilitation, head injury rehabilitation, or paralysis.
Our Myotherapists can provide rehabilitative therapy following an injury or overuse condition (e.g. – RSI). Gradual retraining and redevelopment of muscle groups may be a necessary part of your recovery. Your Myotherapist will work with you to develop a rehabilitation program to return you to an optimal, pain free, state of health.
The duration of rehabilitation depends on the nature of your condition or injury. Acute conditions sudden (recent in nature, intense) may respond quickly whereas chronic (long term, nagging, disruptive, unresolved) conditions are more complicated and tend to take longer.
Your Myotherapist will work with you to design a program that maximizes compliance and effectiveness. These may or may not include aids (such as weights and elastic) depending on your preference.
You also may be prescribed heat and ice as a form of home rehabilitation.
Rehabilitation Aids

Weights: these may be small hand weights that can be used at home or larger weights/machines used within a gymnasium setting under the supervision of a personal trainer/ gym instructor
Elastic: These are resistance elastics that provide gradual resistance as your condition improves. These may be purchased from the clinic at a small fee. Your elastic will be custom measured for your height and need.
Heat Packs: Heat is prescribed to restore blood circulation to an area to increase flexibility, nutrition, oxygen to an area of contraction. These will be used during your treatment and may be prescribed for home use. Heat packs may also be purchased from the clinic.
Ice Packs: The use of ice is also effective in restoring circulation to an area of contraction. It is also effective in treating inflammatory conditions. Ice packs may be purchased from the clinic for a small fee.
